Privacy Policy

Beacon Studio ("we", "us") builds and maintains websites for local businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple because our data practices are simple.

Information we collect

• Business and contact details you give us when requesting a free preview or becoming a client — business name, contact name, email address, phone number, and information about your business used to build your website (services, hours, photos, descriptions).
• Publicly available business information (such as your public listing details) used to prepare website previews.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles them under their own privacy policy. We keep only invoice records (amount, date, status).
• Basic usage information when you view a website preview we send you (for example, that the preview was opened), so we know you received it.

How we use it

• To build, host and maintain your website.
• To communicate with you about previews, invoices, and your care plan.
• To invoice you and process payments through Stripe.
• To meet our legal and tax obligations.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your information to anyone.
• We do not send marketing on behalf of third parties.
• We do not collect more than we need to deliver the service.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers needed to run our business: payment processing (Stripe), website hosting and domain services, and email delivery. Each provider handles your data under its own privacy terms.

Storage and security

Your information is stored securely and access is limited to the people who need it to deliver your website. Client websites are served over HTTPS with SSL certificates.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. If you have an active website with us, some information (like invoice records) must be retained to meet our legal obligations. To make a request, email [email protected].

We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, contact us first — we'll put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
